TORONTO, ONTARIO--Macdonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:BMK) is pleased to announce that it has commenced a Fall drilling program on its McNugget property in the McFauld's Lake area of the James Bay Lowlands. The first phase of this program will include approximately 1500m of drilling and the first hole of the program was collared on October 3rd. Drilling is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month with results being released following receipt of assay analysis from Accurassay in Thunder Bay.
CAMPBELL ZONE IS THE EXPLORATION TARGET
The study has highlighted a 1.2 km zone of structural complexity and favourable geology between holes MN-06-14 and MN-06-17, now named the "Campbell Zone"
Drilling will initially concentrate on extensions along strike and dip of mineralization encountered in the Spring 2006 program. This drilling is designed to expand known massive sulphide zones and to provide information on the geometry of the base metal mineralization and the enclosing geological units. These drill holes will also be used to focus line-cutting, gravity and IP surveys planned for the first quarter of 2007.
This program will follow up the successful drill campaign completed in the Spring of 2006 that led to the discovery of Cu and Zn mineralized Massive Sulphides associated with a 4.6 km east-west VTEM anomaly.
SPRING 2006 RESULTS
Highlights of the Spring 2006 campaign included holes MN-06-17 with 9.00m at 0.43% Cu, 3.1% Zn and 18.73 g/t Ag, including 2.66m at 7.07% Zn; MN-06-19 with 6.49m at 0.64% Cu, 2.92% Zn and 18.84 g/t Ag, including 2.79m at 5.21% Zn and MN-06-14 with 2.57m at 1.01% Cu, 2.49% Zn and 31.00 g/t Ag.
SECOND PHASE OF FALL PROGRAM
Later drill holes will explore untested parts of a conductive trend along favourable stratigraphy that extends in a folded package for 14 km on the property. This package has had base metal mineralized intersections in previous drilling campaigns. Extensions to this stratigraphy were recently staked in August and September resulting in additional future exploration targets.
To accomplish these objectives both the drilling contractor (Cartwright Drilling) and the helicopter contractor (Expedition Helicopters) are on site and drilling has started. The Company will again stage the McNugget exploration program out of the First Nations Community of Webequie, which is located approximately 27 km west of the McNugget property. The community continues to provide excellent logistics support, which facilitates a very efficient exploration program.
